Dr. Waddell is a fellowship trained Orthopedic Spine Surgeon at The Spine Center of Louisiana. He received his Bachelors at University of Arkansas, and his medical degree from LSU in New Orleans. He completed a residency in orthopedic surgery at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and a Spine Fellowship at the world-renowned Rothman Orthopaedic Institute at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia. Dr. Waddell is dedicated to advancing the field of spine surgery through both clinical practice and research.
Dr. Waddell treats conditions including disorders of the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine. These include spinal stenosis, myelopathy, herniated discs, spinal trauma, spinal tumors, minimally invasive surgery, and complex revision spine surgery. Dr. Waddell has presented at numerous national and international conferences, sharing his research on a breadth of topics. He has authored multiple publications, including contributions to well-regarded journals and book chapters.
Outside of his professional endeavors, Dr. Waddell enjoys spending time outdoors with his wife and twin boys. He is also an avid baseball fan, having been a prior collegiate athlete, following both college and major league teams.
Dr. Waddell is committed to improving patient outcomes through innovative surgical techniques and compassionate care. He is currently accepting new patients in our Lafayette Louisiana office beginning September 10, 2025, and performing surgery at the Neuromedical Center in Baton Rouge.
